MARINETTE — The Tri-City Area United Way is inviting individuals or families earning less than $66,000 to file their federal and state taxes through which is free and allows filers to complete their taxes in under one hour. Eligible persons may complete their taxes from home, at work or on mobile devices and consumers are guaranteed a maximum refund, 100 percent accuracy and 100 percent satisfaction.
The enhanced features of the program will offer filers support from IRS-certified specialists; access to H&R Block premium product; the ability to upload an image of W-2, allowing MyFreeTaxes to automatically fill in information; free, unlimited, personalized real-time chat and phone support in English and Spanish from IRS-certified specialists at 1-855-MY-TX-HELP which will operate through April 30, Monday to Friday from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Saturdays from noon to 9 p.m.; the ability to see how and why the refund amount is changing in real time; advanced functionality for those working in the gig economy or who need to include information regarding real estate investments, stock options or inheritance taxes and will cut down the time it takes to complete returns.
Free tax preparation services are also offered, by appointment, through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program for Wisconsin and Michigan residents with households making $54,000 or less and are in need of basic tax return preparation, at Tri-City Area United Way, 1812 Hall Ave.
