MARINETTE — The UW-Marinette Continuing Education Department will host a leadership camp for students from grade 5 through 9, who wish to develop character and improve leadership skills, at the campus, 750 W Bay Shore St., July 30 to Aug. 3 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Romy Blystone, a certified Habitudes® Master Consultant who has worked with youth by teaching and coaching in schools and on sports teams as well as mentoring and training in churches and workplaces, and Brenda Blystone, a Spanish teacher and student senate adviser at Marinette High School who has been involved in student leadership activities at MHS for 25 years, will lead, guide and help students learn about who they are and who they want to become in positive and healthy ways. The Blystones believe identity informs relationships, priorities and one’s purpose in life, so they incorporate character building alongside leadership training.

Participants will be instructed on how to break free from peer pressure and influence others in positive ways, experience greater empathy and minimize bullying among students, embrace a growth mindset that values hard work and resilience, capitalize on personal strengths to be career-ready upon graduation, and develop critical thinking skills that produce better life choices, such as choosing healthy friends, improving study habits and setting goals.

The cost of the camp is $140 and includes breakfast, lunch and a T-shirt. For more information and to register, persons may visit;, or call 715-504-3303.
