Wisconsin Farm Service Agency (FSA) Acting State Executive Director Russell Raeder announces that the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) will begin mailing ballots to eligible farmers and ranchers for the 2017 FSA County Committee elections Nov. 6. The ballots will include the names of candidates running for election. Producers must return ballots to the local FSA offices by Dec. 4 or if mailed, postmarked by Dec. 4, to ensure that the vote is counted.
Producers must participate or cooperate in an FSA program to be eligible to vote in the county committee election. Farmers and ranchers who supervise and conduct the farming operations of an entire farm, but are not of legal voting age may also be eligible to vote. Newly elected committee members will take office Jan. 1.
