MARINETTE — Sophomore Halle Beranek, juniors Kianna Bulin, Karah Nelson and Alexa Pristelski of Saint Thomas Aquinas Academy were inducted into the Our Lady of Lourdes Chapter of the National Honor Society Nov. 21. The Society is an organization that recognizes students who excel academically, with leadership, service and character. Members volunteer their time to school, church and community service projects and Our Lady of Lourdes chapter is often working in the community assisting The Salvation Army, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, visiting nursing home residents, hosting activities for elementary students and cleaning up area roadsides.
Principal Mike Cattani who welcomed the 2017 inductees into the greater NHS community, reflected on the four main purposes that have guided chapters from the beginning: To create enthusiasm for scholarship, stimulate a desire to render service, promote leadership and develop character in students of secondary schools. The new members will join current members Millie Benson, Marley Carviou, Christian Hornick and Lily Lefebvre.
