PESHTIGO — City of Peshtigo Parks and Recreation Department announces its winter recreation activities:
¦ The Guided Snowshoe Hiking Tours: A free event held at the Peshtigo River Recreational Park (the new park below the dam) and led by Anne Bartels, Jan. 13 at 10 a.m. and Feb. 7 at 5:30 p.m. For more information, to make reservations or to request shoes (shoe size and approximate height needed), persons may call City Hall at 715-582-3041.
¦ Cross Country Skiing: Trails, groomed by the Park and Recreation Department, begins at the main entrance of Badger Park. Skiers are cautioned to avoid the snowmobile trail that cuts across the park and trails will be maintained as long as meteorologically possible.
¦ Harper Park Ice Rink: The rink at Harper Park will be up and running as soon as conditions make it possible.
¦ Lil’ Dribblers Basketball 2018: A skills and drills basketball program for children in Kindergarten to Grade 3, held at the Peshtigo Elementary Gym, Jan. 6 ,13 and 20 and Feb. 10 and 17 from noon to 1 p.m. for Kindergarteners and first graders and 1 to 2 p.m. for second- and third-graders. The cost is $10 for each child and enrollment forms, which are available at City Hall or at, must be completed before Jan. 5.
¦ Pom Pons: Learn basics of dance and pom pons under the instruction of Meg Bero from Studio 170, held in the lunch room of the elementary school Feb. 3, 10 and 17 from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. for girls 5 to 8 years and 10:45 a.m. to noon for girls 9 to 12 years. The girls will also practice a routine that will be performed at half time of the high school boys basketball game Feb. 22. The cost is $15 and includes a T-shirt which will be the uniform top for the performance, but participants will need to provide their own black leggings and tennis shoes.
