MARINETTE — The Oct. 21 meeting of American Legion Auxiliary Marinette County Council was hosted by Amberg Unit 428. The Amberg Unit 428 members are working on the fleece blankets which are to be sent overseas to active military service people and the Pembine Unit 461 donated $300 to Make-A-Difference Day in their community. Most units are preparing for Veterans Day activities in their communities.
The facility in Iron Mountain will no longer have morning socials because a nurse is required to be present any time food is served to patients. No homemade food items can be served to the patients. Joyce Sporrer, associate representative, received national recognition for VAVS Perfect Attendance.
Preparation for the 2018 Badger Girl sessions has begun. There will be a price increase for the Badger Girl fee and for the bus transportation cost. The price information is in the department mailing. The October raffle winners were Joyce Sporrer and Loretta Kaempf. All raffle proceeds will help support local veterans programs.
