ATHELSTANE — The Athelstane/Silver Cliff American Legion Auxiliary Unit 66 met Nov. 3 at Silver Cliff Town Hall. Unit members can send their membership dues by mail to Dee Farley or bring it to any meeting.

All Post/Unit 66 members were invited to participate in the Veterans Day Program Friday at 9:30 a.m. at the Wausaukee High School. Those who plan to attend should arrive at the school by 9 or shortly after. They will have a Deer Hunters Bake Sale at the Fire Lane Bar & Grill Nov. 15, beginning at 3 p.m. Members are asked to bring packaged baked goods by 1. Proceeds from the sale are used to purchase Christmas gift items for the veterans at the Iron Mountain facility.

Karen Ladd, Joyce Mattson and Ann Wender, unit members, will distribute poppies at the Silver Cliff Red Pine convenience store Nov. 10 for the Veterans Day weekend. All proceeds from the poppy distribution are used to support local veterans in need.

The Legion is making plans for the 2018 Christmas dinner which will be held at the Woods Banquet Hall Dec. 1. The event begins at 4 p.m., with dinner and program at 5:30.

The 2018 Badger Boys /Girls are invited to speak about their experiences this past summer at the Badger State session.

After the meeting, Unit 66 hosted a Veterans Day dinner for all Post 66 veterans. The next meeting will be at 10 a.m. Jan. 5 at the Silver Cliff Town Hall.
