MARINETTE — UW-Marinette has named Bethany Welch a 2017-18 Kaplan Award recipient. The award, which honors Arthur M. Kaplan who retired in 1993 as vice chancellor of the UW Colleges, recognizes individuals for significant innovative improvements in instruction and/or service to students. Welch, a UW-Marinette alumna who joined the faculty in 2008, is an associate lecturer of Spanish and instructor in the Intensive English Program for international students. She received the award for her commitment to students, both international and domestic, and for her research-based innovations in teaching English and Spanish.
As a Kaplan Award recipient, Welch will receive a $250-grant from the university, matched by the UW-Marinette Foundation.
