PESHTIGO — UW-Extension of Marinette County invites all home fruit-tree growers to learn more about fruit tree pruning and training. A hands-on workshop which will allow participants to learn about and practice proper pruning and training techniques will be offered Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Harmony Arboretum Demonstration Gardens orchard.
The gardens are located seven miles west of Marinette, on Marinette County Trunk E, ½ mile south of Highway 64, or ½ mile north of County Trunk D. Participants will have the chance to learn the how and why of proper pruning and then apply those new skills with hands-on practice. Scott Reuss, Marinette County UW-Extension Horticulture agent, will lead participants through the day’s activities and will demonstrate young tree training techniques, emphasizing annual maintenance pruning techniques, and discussing/demonstrating how to fix older trees that may need more assistance.
