MARINETTE — The Marinette Welcome Center, 1680 Bridge St., will once again sponsor the Easter Basket Project for the community.
Prefilled baskets will be donated to children’s of needy families identified through the local schools in the area, local hospitals, churches, fire departments, police department, Human Services, Salvation Army, St. Vincent de Paul, the Rainbow House, NEWCAP, and Abundant Life Mission and Shelter.
Last year Welcome Center staff distributed 117 baskets locally. This year, the center is hoping to increase that number.
If a business, organization, church group, scout troop, would like to contribute, all baskets should be brought to the Marinette Welcome Center, 1680 Bridge St., prior to April 12 to ensure distribution through non-profit agencies. Baskets should be identified as for a boy or girl, and approximate age, if possible. There are children 6-10 years old and pre-teens, as well.
For those who wish to participate, but not assemble a basket, volunteers are available to shop and put a basket. The cost is $10, which covers the cost of the basket, the wrap, bow and contents. Donations can be sent or delivered to the Welcome Center.
