MARINETTE — Family and friends of Tammy Lynn Maciulis, daughter of Phyllis Makowski and Tony Maciulis, will sell solid chocolate bunnies and lambs, chocolate and fudge eggs, fudge trays, boxed chocolates, coffee and candy bars at Marinette Farm and Garden Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Proceeds from the sale will be added to the Tammy Maciulis Memorial Scholarship Fund, which was started in 2007 in memory of Tammy.
Tammy was abducted from her home in the middle of the night July 10, 1987, when she was 11 years old. During the 2 1/2 years before her body was recovered in Georgia, the family says the Marinette Police Department never gave up and her case was never far from the forefront. Lt. Jeff Skorik, now the former chief of police, took a personal interest in the case.
Because of the efforts made in Tammy’s case, the scholarship fund awards high school seniors of Menominee and Marinette who are entering a higher education program to study law enforcement. The group has given out 18 scholarships so far, two more will be given out this spring.
Monetary donations may be sent to Wells Fargo, Tammy Maciulis Memorial Scholarship Fund c/o Phyllis Makowski, 1329 8th Ave., Menominee, MI, 49858, or by calling 906-863-5523.
