MENOMINEE — Menominee American Legion Auxiliary (ALA) Unit 146 held its regular meeting at the Legion Post, Feb. 13 preceded by a potluck dinner. After protocol was established, it was reported that membership is currently at 261, just two short of the projected goal and persons interested in becoming members may call Lewis, 906-863-1679.
Six applicants are being interviewed to attend the 78th Session of Girls State to be held in June at Michigan State University, East Lansing, Mich., and poppy days are scheduled for May 17, 18 and 19. The unit received monetary donations from the Legionnaires and Sons of American Legion Post 146 and “thank you” correspondence for their donation to The Salvation Army.
The 2019 membership dues will increase to $40 and the approved budgeted items are: Concerts in the Park, Walk for Warmth, Barb Palzewicz Foundation and Menominee County ISD Imaginary Library.
Some of the upcoming events include Mardi Gras, at the Post, 818 1st St., today at 3 p.m. and a potluck dinner, Wednesday at 6; Menominee American Legion Red Waves bag groceries at Jack’s Fresh Market, March 3 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.; ALA Meeting (anniversary/cake included) March 13 at 6:30 p.m. and American Legion Class A Baseball Tournament at Spies Field, Menominee, from Aug. 1 to 5.
