MENOMINEE —The American Legion Auxiliary (ALA) Unit 146 held its regular meeting at the Legion Post, 1st Street, Nov. 14 and 30. There are 213 registered members with a targeted goal of 263, and a due increase expected in 2019. The 2018 Menominee Waterfront Festival days have been changed to Thursday through Saturday, with Sunday scheduled as a rain date.
“Give 10 to Education” will continue collecting box tops, Campbell soup labels as well as Coke soda products with twist off caps including carton codes and can be dropped off at  American Legion Post 146, Jack’s Fresh Market, Senior Center, Spies Public Library, Serving Spoon and Stephenson National Bank & Trust. The availability of various scholarships through the National American Legion Auxiliary for graduating seniors was also discussed.
“Wreaths Across America” chairperson reported that 1,335 pasties were sold and $735 received from Anderson-Kell Funeral Home, Disabled American Veterans (DAV) and others in support of the program. Some of the upcoming events include ALA Christmas Party Dinner at the Post, Dec 12 with social hour beginning at 5 p.m. and dinner at 6; Midwinter Tour at the Post, Jan. 13 at 6 p.m. and the Midwinter Conference, Marquette, Mich., Jan. 19 to 20.
