MARINETTE — The Healthy Youth Coalition of Marinette & Menominee Counties has partnered with Crivitz Pharmacy to host their “Lock It. Drop It. Stop It.” campaign to combat prescription drug abuse.
The “Lock it. Drop it. Stop it.” effort was made possible by funds received through the “Partnership for Success 2015” Wisconsin state grant which enabled the implementation of a safe disposal and lock up campaign in Marinette County. Personal lock boxes and medication dissolving/deactivation bags are available to all Marinette County residents, free of charge, to lock up their medications as well as for those who currently hold a prescription for a narcotic or any other type of medication that is identified as “high-seeking” by abusers.
Locking up and disposing of medications is one strategy to decrease abuse in communities, as many abusers reported obtaining their medications from a friend or family member for illegal purposes. Magnets with drop site locations, educational flyers and brochures will also be provided at the Crivitz Pharmacy along with the lock boxes and deactivation bags.
