MARINETTE — Patti Wright, a native of Marinette County who lives in California, recently visited her mother Helen, family and friends. While here, she performed three different dances for the people at the Luther Home. Some of her choreography was self-created.

Patti Wright, California, entertains Luther Home residents while visiting family recently.
Wright says belly dancing is a non-impact, weight-bearing exercise, good for all ages and beneficial to the spine. Belly dance is a folk or social dance, and a performance art. There are many movments — percussive and fluid movements, shimmies, shivers and vibrations using many parts of the body.
Wright primarily used fluid movements, keeping the body in a continuous, flowing motion, which observers often find relaxing.
