The American Red Cross is issuing an urgent call for blood and platelet donors as the ongoing severe winter weather and the widespread seasonal flu have contributed to a shortage that has reached a critical level. Every day, no matter the weather, the Red Cross must collect more than 13,000 blood and platelet donations to meet the needs of patients.
Upcoming blood donation opportunities are: 
¦ Harris: Bark River High School, W471 Old U.S. 41, Feb. 1, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.;
¦ Marinette: UW-Marinette Union, 750 W Bay Shore St., Feb. 5, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.; and Bellin Health, 2820 Roosevelt Road, Feb. 20, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.;
¦ Menominee: First Presbyterian Church, 923 5th St., Feb 12, noon to 6 p.m.; and Feb. 13, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.;
¦ Stephenson: Stephenson High School, W526 Division St., Feb. 13, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
¦ Pembine: Beecher Town Hall, W7971 County Road Z, Monday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
¦ Wausaukee: Wausaukee High School, U.S. 141, Feb. 19, 12:30 to 5:30 p.m.
