MARINETTE — Yet another store is opening in the formerly quiet Pine Tree Mall, as Harbor Freight Tools plans its soft opening this coming week and a grand opening later this summer.

The discount tool retailer will be opening its doors at 8 a.m. Tuesday at its new home at 2400 Roosevelt Road, in a portion of the space previously occupied by JCPenney.

“We’re thrilled to be opening our 17th Harbor Freight Tools store in Wisconsin and very pleased by the warm welcome we’ve received in Marinette” said Eric Smidt, President of Harbor Freight Tools. “At Harbor Freight, we’re all about delivering high quality tools at ridiculously low prices. We do it by manufacturing our tools at the same factories as the expensive brands, but we cut out the middle man and pass the savings on to our customers. We’ve also invested millions of dollars to build and operate our own state-of-the-art quality test labs to ensure that we’re constantly driving quality at the lowest possible price.”

Smidt invited everyone in the Marinette area to visit the new store, “and see why if you buy tools anywhere else, you’re throwing your money away.”

The store will also host a grand opening event on July 4.

According to information from Harbor Freight Tools Corporate, the store in Marinette will employ between 35 and 40 workers and offer customers 15,000 square feet of shopping space. The company sells tools in over 900 stores nationwide and on its website, harborfreight.com, stocking over 7,000 items in categories including automotive, air and power tools, shop equipment and hand tools.

The former JCPenney space will also become home to a Jo-Ann Fabrics store this summer, which is currently in progress and set to open on Aug. 2. Both Jo-Ann Fabrics and Harbor Freight will have outdoor entrances facing the mall’s main parking lot.
